Sorry I have not replied to you.

I found your site by googling 'itb644', looking for 'brain dumps' i.e. hints to content and style of the exam.

From Exam Paper:

Question 2
Didn't try to 'over think' this item. I selected B, as the OS and/or applications wold automatically start using both processes if designed by the manufacturers.

Question 7
I also would choose A.

Question 8
Again this would be about symantics. Whilst you and I would agree both A and B are the same. The answer I'd select would be B as file server (under MICROSOFT) would be certainly NOT be a workstation.

Question 9
The MICROSOFT would be D.

Question 13
The MICROSOFT answer would be D, and they are quite adamant.

Question 21
I would say it is D before all else.

Question 23
I selected B.

Question 26
Group Policy would be the only way in which desktop can be presented consistantly

Question 29
I selected C mainly because D didn't mention what object i.e. User, Computer or Printer etc..

How do you think you went in the exam?

I have, and also send a mail with some questions about the exam and got a reply.. Forwared for your pleaseure (how come you found my homepage by the way)

<b>Mail from me to Lecturer</b>

<i>Ok. I'll send you some of the questions from the last exams that we can't get a grip on, even 4 of us using all available documentation in books and network

We would appriciate if you could explain them to us before the exam.

From Exam Paper:

Question 2)
Which statement is true fro the Windows Operation System running on a computer with more than one CPU?
b) Operation system functions are spread accross all processors in the system
c) Kernel Mode and user mode code can not run simultaneously on the same processor

This question could be both b) and c) depending on how you define "functions" and how you define "simultaneously"

Question 7
Which of the following network models are suported by Windows
a) Client Server Networking
c) Concurrent Point to Point Networking

I guess it's a) here, but It supports Point to Point as well, and Concurrent, well yes it does concurrentl.

Question 8
Which of the following statments is true for a Windows peer-to-peer network?
a) A workstation can be a file server
b) Workstations can share files
c) Workstations can exchange mail messages
d) A user can run an application remotly on another workstation

a and b are sort of identical. (even though a file server _usually_ does more than just serve smb-requests)

I _guess_ b could be the right answer here, but when you share files you are running a server (smb/cifs) and clients can connect, and by that you could easily say that c) and d) also could be done in a Pont to Point Network.

Question 9
The main push in developing Network Operation System Technology is to
a) Move from client server networking to peer-to-peer networking
b) Provide more tools for system administration
c) Support Larger networks
d) Reduce the total cost of ownership

All of the above are true as far as I see in the last 7 years in the business.
a) Using bittorrent and similar to distribute media
b) Newer and better tools com all the time
c) Maintaining largrer networks are allways a goal

Question 13)
A server computer is
c) Any computer that proveds share resources to a network user
d) Any computer running a server version the the windows operation system

c should be correct here. But in the slides from lecture 1 it says "A server requires a special version of Windows".....

Question 21
Print Pool question
a) All the printers must be connected to the same computer
b) All printers must have exaclty the same configuration
c) You must create a printer for each print device, then link them through the printer pool configuration tab
d) All of the printer must be network printers

I think b) is correct here as the windows documentations mentiones that all printers must be of same model (not configuration), but they also must be connected to the same computer (if you define network port tcp/ip as connected)

Question 23
A Logical drive
b) a NTFS volume creatin the a extended partition

I guess it's this answer, but a logical drive is also assigning driveletters to special devices, assigning driveletters to a certain directory on other drives etc...

Question 26
A group of researches in an arhritis department of a drug company have decided to use the same desktop set up on all computers in their lab to make it easier to move form one computer to another in the lab. Which tool enables you to prive this service?

Does this mean that they want to use profiles to have the same desktop wherever they go, or that they all should not be able to modify the desktop so it stays the same?

Question 29
Where are password polices ser on a domain Controller
c) default Domain Policy
d) Security tab on objects properties

Both c) and d) is correct as far as I see it

Question 33
a) Windows Server 2003 has serveral remote connectivity features. Name them an explain briefly what service they provide..

Is this connecting to it locally, like telnet and remote desktop, or is it services like http, smtp, ftp, tftp etc?
</i>

<b>And his mail answering most of them</b>

<snip>

<i>
Hi Audun,

Q2 Answer is b. Windows uses SMP Symmetric Multi Processing

Q7 This was dicussed in more detail last year. Point to point really meant
physical point to point(separate cable to each other node) not sharing the
same cable as in Ethernet.

Q8. There are protocol differences in file serving and file sharing. The
question is about Windows peer-to-peer, not any generic peer-to-peer
networking.

Q9. From the enterprise point of view TCO is the dominant factor and that is
where Microsoft is putting their efforts, and where the choice between Linux
and Windows is made. This was discussed in more detail last year.

Q13 C is correct and does not conflict with the lecture 1 statement.

Q21 Not covered this semester. Answer is b.

Q23 Unfortunately MS definitions are not always "logical". Answer is b

Q26 Answer is c. they want to have the same desktop
wherever they go and that they all should not be able to modify the
desktop so it stays the same.

Q29 Answer is c only.

Q33 Follows the terminology of last years textbook and MS. Remote
assistance: The administrator can allow higher level support personnel to
view the servers desktop and even take control of the desktop.
Remote desktop: Allows administrators and selected users to log on to the
server from another windows computer and work as if they were in front of
the server.
</i></snip>
